| Horse Photos: Why and How? |
|
You have heard the saying "one good photo is worth a thousand words". It is very true and other than an accurate description, great photos when listing your horse at CowHorseSale.com can make the biggest difference between a successful sale and not.
Here at CowHorseSale you have the ability to attach up to five photos with each listing. We whole heartily urge you to take advantage of using all five photos.
When selecting your photos for use with a horse listing we suggest that you use four of the photo slots available for photos showing both sides (left and right) and the front and back of your horse. The fifth slot we suggest either a performance photo if you have one and it applies to your horse or a favorite photo of your horse that you have.
Two types of photos are available to you. The first type is those that are professionally taken and the second those that you take yourself. Both with proper forethought can add to your horse listing what words alone can not describe.
Below is a photo of Choice Acres that was taken by the owners (The Final Cut Ranch) and then digitally enhanced to remove the lead and other distracting background objects in the photo. It is an excellent example of what you want to present with your horse listing.

Below are a set of four photos that show as an example, the front, rear, left and right sides of a horse. The photos have been cropped and the file size reduced to meet the 50kb limit on photos submitted with your listing. Notice that the photos were taken on a hard clean surface to allow the viewer to clearly see the horses' feet.

The photo below shows that with some prior planning you can take action photos of your horse yourself. The photo was taken at a practice cutting session of the paint stallion Strait From Texas by a member of the CowHorseSale.com staff. It also has been cropped with the file size reduced.

CowHorseSale.com has a limit on both the viewed physical size of your photos and the size of the photo file.
The physically viewed size of photos attached to your listings is no wider than 400 pixels.
The actual file size is limited to 50kb per photo file.
These limitations are in place to help those users that are viewing your listings while using a modem attached to a phone line. These connections are typically slower than broadband (cable, satellite, DSL) service and very often are the only service available to users in the horse industry.
Many photo editing programs are available to work with your photos. One that we have found that has rave reviews from users is FastStone Image Viewer and is available to the home user free of charge. The software may be downloaded at Faststone Web-Site.
